| | crushed | ] | Selection results came today and ... I didn't make it. No place offered.
Dammit. I know I shouldn't be so upset. Competitive entry blah blah knew all along blah blah blah. But - dammit - I did well. B, B+, A- and an A. I worked damn hard. I stressed. I lost nearly ten kg (which frankly, I don't have to lose in the first place). I spent six months studying crazily and working hard.
And I didn't get in. Fuck. And now I have three days to figure a new course. |

Grr. Microsoft word. I hates it. Stupid demo-trial thingys. Why cannot you just continue to work? Why must you shut down on me?
How am I supposed to write my fanfiction now? *pouts* |

So semester one is over. Yikes. That went fast. I've got three weeks of holidays to look forward to now, before I get told whether I made the cut or not. Still, holidays are holidays. |

Okay, I think its pretty official now. I'm an idiot. Yup, you know when you get halls keys and the first thing they tell you is not to lock them in your room?
...
Yup, I did. Not a major drama, right? Find an RA, get door open, die of embarrassment. But... couldn't talk to the RA. Like, WTH me? Go and talk to him. He's not that scary. *smacks self in the head* So I ended up dithering. And more dithering.
And I don't know why. And I couldn't go and talk to any of the other residents either to get them to help me. It was embarrassing, yes. But not that bad. I don't know why I had a spaz attack about talking to people. I was mute for about two hours! Then I couldn't find the RA anyway and had to call HGC and get them to send someone over.
Talk about melodramatic. *slaps self inna head again* |

Fire Drills. At 7.30am. When I is in bed sleeping.
So that was my wakeup call. It wasn't so bad, cause I was about to get up anyway, but if it'd been ten minutes later I woulda been in the shower. Which would have been incredibly Not Fun. Still, its not exactly an excellent way to start a Monday morning upon which I have 5 hours of back to back classes. |

Which is pretty much all I have to say, really. I've spent the last I-don't-know-how-long reading Naruto fanfic. Mostly here and at the pit, cause I don't know if there are any Naruto archives out there; I'm sure I'll find them if there are though. |

So, yay! I'm officially finished school. (Ignoring exams et all XP) Prize giving was lolz. It really was. The headboy and headgirl hijacked it. We knew they were going to, but the teachers didn't. XD
So we had Mr Fern dieing of laughter in the front row, and that was just during the speeches. Our (very funny) class clowns had written a song about all our teachers. I wish I could remember it all, so that I could spam you with it - I'm sure it'd still be funny to those who didn't know them.
When you get lines like:
Smeetsy is the reason, why all the girls stayed, Ms Coleman ought to lay off, the raspberry lemonade!
And:
Teachers, I sympathise... you'll miss us like Bevan misses pies, like Mr Harveys hearing, and Chris Campbells hair, soon we are going to, all disappear!
Or maybe it's one of those in jokes, that you just had to be there for... XP |

| | intimidated | ] | I got stuff back from the Air Force recruiting office today, and it was forms like whoa. So many. I went cross eyed upon opening the envelope. And ... this is just the begining. I haven't even sat the test yet, let alone gone for selection. Speaking of, the test. Yes. Kind of worring me. Particularly the bit testing instrument reading. I don't know what the instruments in a cockpit are or how to read them
I don't really know what I was thinking when I applied. Yes, flying would be awesomesauce. Xtreme Awesomesauce, even. But... yeah, freaking me out a little. But uni would prolly do that too, so what can you do really? |

| Air Force Challenge |
[Jul. 13th, 2008|12:34 pm] |
Yes, I'm back!
I just spent a week on the Air Force base as part of what the recruiting office calls the 'Air Force Challenge'. They took a bunch of us high school kids who were interested and showed us around all the trades and jobs and stuff. It was a pretty awesome week. We got to fly in the Huey and poke around in the Orion, CT4E and Kingair.
It was a pretty action packed week. We did tons of stuff. Drill and fitness courses and the run test (yes, I failed it, don't laugh). We built tents, used cranes, did teamwork exercises, brain teasers - all that sort of stuff.
I'm still not too sure if I want to join up though. On one hand, flying. On the other hand, fitness/running. Flying is the most awesome thing ever, but I'm not so good at running. And the initial recruit courses sound pretty full on and scary. |

Nabbed from everloyal "The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed." 1) Look at the list and bold those you have read. 2) Italicize those you intend to read. 3) Underline the books you LOVE. 4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them
More than 6 :-D |

Prom was pretty wicked. This year the theme was 'VIP Nightclub' which is an alright theme to have, I guess. Not really outrageous or anything, and we managed to put it together alright. Though, I do suspect that many girls had very bruised shins from all the chairs, tables, benches etc that we had to carry. I know I did. Not so great with a short dress, but no one noticed so all was well. :D
So there was much dancing had. The band this year was fairly awesome. A local band called 'The Chosen Few', I think. Much better than last year. I danced so much that by the time the after party rolled around, my shoes were attempting to amputate my toes. Without anaesthetic. -.-
The after party itself was a strange, strange mix of drunken hilarity and jellybeans. I pity the poor people who have to clean smushed jellybeans out of the carpet this morning. There was sooo many of them. A local business who had just finished a kilo of jellybeans per expensive purchase thing donated them as a prize or whatever, but they just ended up being thrown around and pelted at people. *g*

| | amused | ] | So I got my acceptance letter from the Air Force Challenge in the mail. *Insert happy dance here* Except, y'know, now I actually have to go. And I don't know a thing about what this will entail, other than the large hint on my pack list to bring running shoes. NOOOOOOOOOOO - pause for breath - oooooo! I can't run. I mean, I want to fly planes, so unless they're ala the Flintstones, no running will be involved. *g*
But, tis be sorting out my future so it should be fun. |

| | cheerful | ] | I went to dawn service again this year. I haven't been for a while (not since I quit Guides and stopped marching with them). But my brothers were marching with the scouts, and Grandad always takes us, so I went this year. I marched with the highschool group, but felt a little out of place. There were only two of us who weren't Prefects there.
I didn't mind going. But I've never noticed how religous it is before. I know it's about honouring the dead and their sacrifice, but can't we do that without bringing God and Jesus up all the time?
There was a flyover by some war plane. I don't know anything about planes so can't say what kind it was. That's the first time it's happened though, and it was rather cool. We all jumped at the three gun salute (mostly cause no one could see what was happening, and therefore wasn't prepared).
But now it feels like I've been up half a day already, even though it's only half past eight. *g* |

| | happy | ] | So I went to see 'Never Back Down'. Amazing. A-maz-ing. Sure the plot is a little, well, expected, but the fight scenes make up for it. And the shirtless buff guys. And the shirtless buff guys beating the hell out of each other in the fight scenes. They were brutal. So maybe a warning that this isn't a movie for those that don't like seeing brutality. :D But for the rest of us, I give it the thumbs up.
Oh, and I bought the new Lee Child book. Double the awesome in one day. :D |

| | drained | ] | So it was Emo!Wednesday at school today. Not that many people dressed up as such, but still. It was fun. The only day when being called emo was a compliment :D
But the mobile blood bank was in town today, so tons of people went there. I think I must have looked quite dodgy in my full black emo gear + pale skin, but they didn't say a word. The nurse did make me get on the scales though. I don't think she believed I was over 50Kg. 51.4, thankyou very much. :) The guy that took my blood was nice. He kept checking up on me afterwards - last time I was there I collapsed - and was very concerned like. *g*
It all went off without a hitch though, except for me being late to Bio last period. Didn't matter much, cause of where I'd been. Only, another boy, who'd also donated, he collapsed during class and they had to call an ambulance for him. It was a little scary. Apparently a few people had done the same thing, but he was really bad. I hope he's okay. |

Going away on a biology field trip tomorrow. Shall be fun. It's three days and two nights, although there is a seven hour bus trip either way. :( But Tiri Tiri island has a lot of native ecosystem, and the museum apparently has good human evo stuff, so... I'll try to survive. :)

According to our patented JawamaticTM technology, you are most like Han Solo in personality. Han Solo is down-to-earth and improvisational, cool-headed and cynical. Appeals to emotion rarely sway him, but as he matured throughout the saga, he let his less-well-developed compassionate side show occasionally. Solo is, in a word, cool. (The polar opposite of Han Solo is Princess Leia Organa.) The eight profiles are as follows: |
